A lot is happening in our sector right now. A month ago, the IEA (International Energy Agency) stated that investments in new projects for fossil fuel extraction need to end. The next ten years are crucial for reducing global CO
2-emissions, according to the energy agency. The Dutch court also ordered Shell to increase and accelerate the planned CO
2-reduction and the company was ordered to reduce the CO
2-emissions of its customers. In addition, through the Green Deal, the European Union is committed to accelerated CO
2-reduction and new climate targets. It is expected that the European Commission will soon come up with new measures based on a 55 percent CO
2-reduction by 2030.
Because of all these important changes and movements in the field, FinCo arranged an article in the Dutch newspaper
Het Financieele Dagblad. In it we tell what we do and why, and what it all adds up to. We share our story in the hope that we inspire others and bring them along in the changes. Because as Jan-Willem van der Velden says in this piece: 'For us, the energy transition cannot go fast enough'.
